Activity Description

This activity will give an update on diagnosis and indications for surgery with a focus on bone. This activity was designed to allow learners to understand how to approach which patients to refer for surgery for hyperparathyroidism.

Learning Objectives

1. The attendee will understand the current guidelines for when to refer patients with hyperparathyroidism for surgery.

2. The attendee will understand that in patients with eGFR<60, hyperparathyroidism is a more aggressive disease and warrants surgery.

3. The attendee will understand that there is no clear benefit to quality of life parameters associated with parathyroidectomy.

Instructions

Clinicians and Technologists are required to answer a set of online test questions following the review of the video and will have up to three attempts to answer questions correctly before losing credit for the activity. Once the activity test has been passed (75% or higher), you will be asked to evaluate the activity online and then be allowed to claim credit and print certificates.
