Activity Description

Chronic Kidney Disease - Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) is a complex disorder of bone and mineral metabolism that affects all patients with CKD, in particular as kidney dysfunction worsens. CKD-MBD is associated with abnormalities in the Vitamin D-Parathyroid axis and Osteoporosis. This session will review the epidemiology of CKD-MBD and its complications and strategies to diagnose and manage the disorder, with a focus on patient-centered outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Appreciate new definition of CKD-MBD
  2. Understand CKD-MBD from a patient-oriented perspective
  3. Learn a basic treatment approached to CKD-MBD

Instructions:

Clinicians and Technologists are required to answer a set of online test questions following the review of the video and will have up to three attempts to answer questions correctly before losing credit for the activity. Once the activity test has been passed (75% or higher), you will be asked to evaluate the activity online and then be allowed to claim credit and print certificates.
