Activity Description

This session will discuss the basics of positioning, technique, and analysis as well as examine decision making for advanced DXA analysis of GE-Lunar scans. It will demonstrate how bone mapping and soft tissue detection impact measurements. And it will identify challenges such as atypical anatomy and internal artifacts in the lumbar spine and femur.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate proper positioning.
  2. Use proper technique.
  3. Perform scan analysis
  4. Identify factors involved in accurate measurement of bone mineral density.
  5. Investigate decision making strategies for scan analysis using enCORE software.
  6. Explore challenges of proper assessment in the presence of anatomical variances.

Instructions:

Clinicians and Technologists are required to answer a set of online test questions following the review of the video and will have up to three attempts to answer questions correctly before losing credit for the activity.
