Activity Description

This one hour on demand module covers the theory of peer learning, why it is the preferred approach to quality assurance in radiology and how to implement the process in your facility.  The content is targeted to professionals that interpret DXA exams.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Provide historical background to better understand the need and rationale for team based learning
  2. Start a peer learning program
  3. Use peer learning to improve individual group practice
  4. Overcome potential or perceived obstacles in transitioning to peer learning

Instructions:

Clinicians and Technologists are required to answer a set of online test questions following the review of the video and will have up to three attempts to answer questions correctly before losing credit for the activity. Once the activity test has been passed (75% or higher), you will be asked to evaluate the activity online and then be allowed to claim credit and print certificates.

Tyler Prout, MD

Clinical Professor

University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health

Dr. Tyler M Prout, MD, FACR is a Clinical Professor within the Community Section and Vice Chair of Quality and Safety of the Department of Radiology.  Dr. Prout is fellowship trained in abdominal imaging.  His clinical interests include quality improvement, hepatobiliary imaging, prostate MRI, CT colonoscopy, thyroid imaging, and osteoporosis imaging.   Dr. Prout has championed several quality improvement initiatives within the community section and department.  As prior US modality chief within the Community Section he championed the adoption of a software solution which auto populates ultrasound measurements into standardized ultrasound report template, improving efficiency and accuracy.  He has also led initiatives related to quality improvement for DXA reporting for osteoporosis.  Dr. Prout has led the transition of his department’s physician quality assurance program from a traditional peer review process to the preferred Peer Learning model which emphasizes team-based group learning and quality improvement initiatives. Dr. Prout is a fellow of the American College of Radiology, past President of the Wisconsin Radiological Society, and currently serves as the Chair of Quality and Safety Committee for the ACR’s General, Small, Emergency and Rural Practice Commission.  Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys golf, running, and woodworking.
