The Official Positions of the ISCD: Indications for Bone Density Testing in Spinal Cord Injury

Leslie Morse, DO, CCD, Christopher Cirnigliaro, MS, and Cathy Craven, BA, MD, FRCPC, MSc collaborate to provide a comprehensive lecture on Bone Density Testing in Spinal Cord Injury. They discuss the work of the 2019 ISCD Spinal Cord Injury Task Force that culminated in the 2019 ISCD Official Positions on diagnosis and management of osteoporosis in spinal cord injury. Among other topics, they cover indications for initial DXA in individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), how bone densitometry by DXA can be used to diagnose osteoporosis and assess fracture risk in individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), and how DXA can be used to monitor osteoporosis therapy in individuals with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
